Q has two older sisters. One of his older sisters is a fan of GOT7’s Yugyeom. Q passed an audition at a dance academy. He danced to BTOB‘s “WOW.” When Q first joined the company, it was hard to adapt because he was really shy. The reason why his stage name is Q is that he thinks he is always at the center of the beginning, just as everything begins when he shouts “cue.” “When you say ‘Q,’ it has a feeling that everything is starting. I named myself ‘Q’ because I liked that, and I feel that I am at the center of the start.” He is said to have become close to ONEUS Gun-hee and Hwan-woong who collaborated on the Road to Kingdom stage. Q was the first member of The Boyz to join LOEN Entertainment. He passed an audition at a dance academy in Cheongju and began his training career in third grade. During the audition, he danced to BTOB’s “WOW.” He is said to have only trained as a trainee in one place before joining his agency. Q’s Debut with The Boyz as the Main Dancer
Q debuted with The Boyz on December 6, 2017. The Boyz made their official debut with the release of their first extended play called The First with the lead single “Boy.” The Boyz originally consisted of twelve members, but in 2019, a member departed from the group, making The Boyz consist of eleven members. The reason why he has the stage name Q is that he feels he is still at the start of doing something, just as everything starts when he shouts “cue.” Q is in charge of the group’s main dancing and vocals. On April 29, 2019, The Boyz had a comeback with their second single album called Bloom Bloom with the lead single with the name of the album. During that comeback era, he dyed his hair a shocking orange color!
